Purify
Temezcal
A temazcal is like a sauna as it offers the benefits of sweating and heat therapy. Yet, temazcals are more of a spiritual and ceremonial practice.
We are pleased to provide you with the incredible opportunity to experience the ancient Mesoamerican ritual of a temazcal purification ceremony.
This transformative experience, often referred to as the "house of heat," involves the pouring of water over hot stones infused with aromatic herbs. This process is designed to purify the body and mind, promoting healing and spiritual renewal.

When?
The experience begins with YES! in your Heart and then we meet August 18-27th in Sacred Space.
We are thrilled to announce that during our retreat, we will be following the day counts in the Mayan Calendar to connect with the cosmic energies of each day and enhance our intentions. Our knowledgeable Mayan guide, Nan Vivi, will be leading us in understanding how the energies of each day can support our journey of consciousness evolution.
To kick off our retreat, we will be starting on August 18th, which is Ak'abal in the Mayan Calendar. Ak’abal symbolizes renewal and serves as a gateway to new beginnings. This day presents us with a wonderful opportunity to start fresh, not by reverting to our past selves, but by embracing a new way of approaching life. It is a chance for us to align our intentions, paths, and healing with a renewed sense of awareness that embraces all aspects of our journey. Join us as we embark on this transformative experience, where we will immerse ourselves in the wisdom of the Mayan Calendar and harness the powerful energies of each day to support our growth and healing. Let's embrace this journey together with open hearts and minds, ready to embrace the wholeness of our being.

Celebrate
Cacao Ritual
Cacao is the base ingredient for chocolate, but it's not the same as chocolate. Cacao refers to the raw, unroasted cacao bean.
Relax with a transformative Cacao Ceremony led by the compassionate Corina Prieto of Presencia 333.
Immerse yourself in a communal spiritual ritual that involves the mindful consumption of ceremonial-grade cacao, which is a psycho stimulant but not considered a psychoactive substance. Cacao is ceremonially used for promoting joyful connection, nourishment, and self-exploration. Cacao stimulates the release of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which are associated with feelings of happiness and well-being. This unique experience will uplift your spirit and awaken your senses.

Open Up
Mind Expansive Ceremony
Partake in meticulously planned sacred medicine ceremonies led by our knowledgeable guides.
The sacred utilization of mind-expanding ceremony serves as potent gateways to the nervous system, facilitating the restructuring and enhancement of neural plasticity. This allows for the reshaping of brain cells and pathways, leading to the emergence of novel pathways that foster insight and the ability to embrace change. We carefully consider the mental states of participants as we collaboratively establish an ideal internal setting for delving into consciousness within a nurturing natural environment. We celebrate and respect the blessings of these ceremonies. Participation in these offered ceremonies is not a requirement to attend this retreat. Your empowered choice is supported and celebrated.

Adobe Houses
4 Adobe houses with two twin beds are available. We will take requests for rooms in the order folks reserve their spots and make housing requests.

Explore the Temples of Yaxha and Tikal for sunset and sunrise ceremonies.
Hike the breathtaking journey to the Volcano Pacaya where will offer a Despacho.

FIRE CEREMONY
Experience a powerful Mayan fire ceremony at an ancient Mayan Temple. This sacred ritual allows us to release what no longer serves us by offering it to the transformative flames.
Various items are ceremoniously offered to the fire. Candles represent light and the guidance of spirits, while seeds symbolize new beginnings and potential. The act of offering these elements to fire can be seen as a way to honor the elements, seek blessings, or connect with the divine. As the candles or seeds are consumed by the fire, they symbolize the letting go of old emotions, fears, and past experiences. Watch as the fire transforms these elements into ash, creating space for renewal, clarity, and emotional freedom. This incredible process enables participants to embrace a fresh start and align with their true selves.
Culture
DESPACHO CEREMONY
The Despacho ceremony is a sacred ritual at the heart of Qero Shamanism. It involves the meticulous arrangement of various objects, including vibrant flowers, on a sheet of paper. This paper is then carefully folded into a bundle and ceremoniously offered to the fire.
The purpose of a Despacho ceremony is profound. It is performed to enhance health, well-being, and prosperity, as well as to address challenges or misfortunes.
Flowers, candy, beans, and many other symbolic objects play a significant role in the Despacho ceremony. Each object is placed with intention and shamanic awareness, carrying the energetic essence of the participants. Join us on a hike to Pacaya Volcano, where we will offer our Despacho Prayer bundle to the fiery embrace of Pacha Mama. This act of reverence is a way to honor and connect with Mother Earth, the mountain spirits known as Apus, and other spiritual forces. The ritual is a powerful expression of gratitude, a heartfelt invitation for blessings, and a harmonious bridge between the physical and spiritual realms.

Vivian Baak, Mayan Spiritual Guide (or Ajq´ij in the Mayan Kaqchiquel language), master practitioner of Shamanic Energy Medicine, Medical Qi Gong Instructor, Acupuncturist, and Tantric Kriya Yoga practitioner. Author of “Find Peace and Heal” and “Sanando desde la Paz”.
I help people rediscover the vast reservoir of compassion and love that exists within and around us, powerful enough to heal ourselves and support others on their healing journeys. I do this through retreats, workshops, personal therapies, counseling, fire ceremonies, shamanic initiations, Qi Gong classes, women’s circles, and more.
The moments when I witness my patients and students transform—when their faces shift from despair, doubt, or sadness to hope, smiles, or tears of joy and peace—are what sparks my passion. These experiences drive me to keep learning, practicing, and allowing the medicine to flow through me. This work also nourishes my own healing, as I know from experience that I can only share what I embody, practice, and live each day. I believe in the delicate dance between love and perseverance, giving and receiving, embracing the new while honoring and integrating the old. The medicine is alive in me; I live what I preach and humbly continue to learn by walking this path. My tribe, those who are also committed to this journey, are pillars of my healing. I couldn’t do it without them. I have belonged to the Mayan Spiritual Guide's Council IQ Balam from Guatemala, since August of 2023. I completed the second level of Cobra Breath from Ipsalu Tantra Kriya Yoga International in 2023. I finished the Medicine Wheel training with the Four Winds Society Foundation in Chile in 2021. On September 2021, I was certified as Electro Acupuncturist by Asociación de la Unión Internacional de Medicinas Complementarias, located in Spain. I was certified as Luohan Qi gong Instructor by Lung Chuan Argentina in 2020. Both degrees were validated by HAGUE in 2021. I graduated from Law School in Marroquin University in Guatemala in 2002. I completed a Fashion Design degree in International Fine Arts College located in Florida in 1996 and I completed the same degree two years before in Scuola Della Moda in Florence, Italy in 1994. I finished high school in Guatemala City in 1992 at the age of 16. I speak Spanish, English and Italian, and I am in the process of learning the language of my Mayan ancestros Kaqchiquel.

Corina Prieto
Offering Cacao Ritual

My name is Corina Prieto. I was born in Guatemala 46 years ago and I have been fully immersed in the spiritual world for about 4 years. As a child there was always a very special connection with nature. As I grew older, I moved away from what nourished me and gave me health. As a result of intense experiences in relationships in my life, a desire for personal healing awakened in me and I spent a few years searching for techniques and guides to be better. In 2021 the Bufo Alvarius medicine came to me and since then my life took a complete turn. I found the best medicine of all… love.
I went through and continue to go through drastic changes in physical, nutritional, psychological, energy habits, etc. I found the value and wisdom that comes from self-care, from self-knowledge, from meditation, from finding the gentle rhythm that is in everything. In August 2023 the call for Cacao medicine came. I enrolled in Ceremonial Cacao training according to the principles of the Toltec Mayan Culture, certified by the Universidad de la Tierra in Bogotá, Colombia. It has been, without a doubt, a beautiful and evergrowing path. This medicine awakens the infinite affection that arises from our own heart. The subtlety and love with which Cacao opens and expands is truly incomparable. Today, it is a pleasure and an honor to be able to share this medicine with mirrors along the road.

Jarben Alejandro Cobin Cortez, known to all as Alex, is a passionate young chef from San Lucas Tolimán, a beautiful town by Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. From a young age, he felt a deep calling for cooking, and with great effort and the support of his mother, he pursued his dream. His dedication earned him a scholarship to study in a larger city, where he refined his culinary skills. He later secured a job as a private chef for a family in Guatemala City, under the condition that he could continue his high school education while working.
This family not only supported his studies but also introduced him to Chinese medicine, vegetarian cooking, and the deeper wisdom of food as a sacred practice. He learned that the energy of the chef is infused into every meal, and a loving heart can transform food into true nourishment for the body and soul. To further his expertise, the family also arranged for a professional chef with hotel experience to mentor him, refining his skills in new and unexpected ways. After graduating from high school, Alex returned to his hometown, determined to build his own path. He started a small catering business, providing food for events, and began raising chickens—feeding them naturally, as he believes in the power of food to create well-being. His connection to cooking goes beyond technique; it is an act of love, a way to share healing and joy with those he serves. Always carrying a warm smile, Alex is known for his passion, dedication, and kind heart, making him beloved by everyone he meets. His dream is to take his culinary talents beyond Guatemala, sharing his gifts with the world while continuing to grow as both a chef and a person of deep wisdom.

Who is Fran?
Just asking myself that question calls me to pay him the tribute he deserves...
To begin with, Fran would never write a review of himself out of humility and because he is someone who to this day continues to be surprised by his own advances in the field of spirituality.
Fran was born in Spain in 1971. At the age of 44, he left everything he had in Madrid to embark, together with his dog Franky, on the most unexpected and incredible path of his life, that of self-knowledge. He arrived in Costa Rica where his economy forced him to change his eating habits and be more in contact with nature.
These changes led him to experiment with meditation; and it was there, where the call of the sacred medicine of Bufo Alvarius came to him. In his experience with Bufo, in the Sonoran desert, he is given the gift of channeling. And today, he is one of the few beings who share medicine through channeled wisdom. In the ceremonies Fran is not a facilitator, he is himself lending his vehicle, his body, to a shamanic energy called Airón. He has managed to cultivate his power to move energy in a very beneficial way and this is how healing arises. Recently, Airón is using Fran’s body to intervene with people without them having to take the medicine. This clearly demonstrates the healing power that takes over when one surrenders to a pure shamanic energy. Personally, I can share that for me Fran is a being that vibrates in love. That he has come to know himself deeply and has managed to access a very evident coherence and balance. I have been fortunate to orbit alongside him for a few years and have witnessed the reach and growth of his medicine. So impactful, so precise, so transformative, so loving. Fran is not someone who is going to heal you, he is someone who teaches you how to heal yourself. His generosity and humility is invaluable. He is a true defender of Consciousness. He came to this world as a true healer, constantly planting seeds for the collective awakening. I have no doubt that he is a true angel in the lives of many. Corina Prieto.
